Portraits: Faces of the Street
Portraits: Faces of the Street
April 5th to May 3rd, 2012
Art Wall, Calgary Public Library, Central Library, 616 Macleod Trail SE
Presented by This is My City Art Society
This exhibit features portraits produced in workshops at various Calgary agencies that serve the homeless. They continue the conversation begun by the depictions of New York City street life by professional artist Bernard Safran seen recently at MOCA. Here, those closest to the streets of Calgary portray their peers and themselves.
Whether self-portraits or images of others, this exhibition aims to present a face and visual character of Calgary’s marginalized citizens from their own perspective.
This program is developed by This is My City artist-mentor Eveline Kolijn.
