Social Justice Encounter 2012:  Love, Hope and Optimism

The Social Justice Encounter brings people together to learn, engage, inspire, and strategize for change.

The program for the SJE 2012 includes presentation of the Legacy of Social Justice Awards, a panel discussion “Social Movements:  Occupy Calgary and Beyond as well as presentations and discussions by people with lived experience and others working for social justice. You can meet with reps from 15 Calgary organizations, help paint a social justice mural with ANTYX and do some art work with “This is my City Art Society.”

This year a Legacy of Social Justice Award will be presented posthumously to Hon. Jack Layton in honour of his lifelong work on social justice. Hon. Oliva Chow has graciously agreed to accept the award.

All Calgarians including people who have experienced social injustice in their lives, students, faculty, and advocates for social justice are invited to share their stories and their ideas. There is no charge for this event and a light lunch will be provided.
